Exhibition Statement

In Guattari's An Ethico-Aesthetic Paradigm, Marcel Duchamp declares “art is a road which leads towards regions which are not governed by time and space.” The artworks in this exhibition invite viewers to visually explore and engage with spaces they’ve never seen before. As each artwork is an unexplored path, we hope our viewers can appreciate and wander around the exhibition in its entirety.

“Gunn Art Department Winter 2020 Showcase” is a multidisciplinary exhibition of artworks created and curated by the visual art students at Henry M. Gunn High School. Students from all art classes were encouraged to share artwork they have created over the course of this school year.

Like the rest of the world, the global COVID-19 pandemic brought significant changes to our daily lives and our education. All exhibitions, including theYouth Art Exhibition, were cancelled.

While we ourselves are unable to hold physical art exhibitions, we decided to continue showcasing students' artworks through this virtual exhibition at a safe distance. By doing so, we hope that this gives an opportunity for all of Gunn's visual art students to showcase their phenomenal artwork.
